About Me

I am currently a post-doctoral Research Associate at the S4 Initiative of Brown University where I supervise the Urban Transition GIS, a grant-funded HGIS infrastructure project building a census geography for the Tenth United States Census of 1880. Prior to arriving in New England I was employed at the Minnesota Population Center and an occasional adjunct faculty in Twin City area colleges. I am also a gardener, a cook, and an avid reader and collector of Victorian children's literature. I have driven nearly every backroad between Machias, Maine, and Blair, Nebraska; have planted more than one million trees; worked for Greenpeace USA; can rebuild a straight six; and can play My Grandfather's Clock on the mountain dulcimer.
